Asdan Tutor with Cover Responsibilities

St Clement's High School, part of West Norfolk Academies Trust is seeking an Asdan Tutor who will also take on cover responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to deliver the Asdan to the pupils who can display social, emotional and mental health difficulties and whose learning disabilities may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder or students who would otherwise struggle to access all GCSE subjects.

Asdan is taught to help students to develop and make full use of their abilities in their personal, social and work-related areas by strengthening their academic and vocational education by engaging and motivating them to enable each student to reach their full education potential, providing skills to assist independence when leaving education. The Asdan course is all coursework with no exams.


To supervise groups of students undertaking activities that have been previously prepared by teaching staff when the assigned teacher is absent on a short-term basis. There may also be a requirement to work with students at other times to support learning or pastoral activities or to provide other relevant support to members of staff.

Salary: Unqualified Teacher Scale U1-U6 (17,682-27,965)

St Clement's has converted to Academy status as part of the West Norfolk Academy Trust, developed from the success of Springwood High School and is focused on maximising the education of the young people in West Norfolk. Springwood High School was judged a "Good" school by Ofsted in July 2013 and in 2017 and has been recognised as one of the top 100 most improved schools in the country. This position is based at St Clements High School, a small 600 student 11-16 village High School. In 2015 our A*-C GCSE results including English and Maths placed us as the highest performing secondary school in West Norfolk. When in 2016 the main performance measure was changed to progress 8 we achieved +0.33 which was again the highest in the area. St Clements is an over-subscribed school, with a clear improvement strategy for continuing to raise attainment

Terrington St Clement is approximately seven miles from the historic town of Kings Lynn, from where there are regular train links to London and Cambridge. The picturesque North Norfolk coastline is also within easy travelling distance.
