Advanced Skills Teacher of Science

The Clarendon Academy

Wiltshire

Advanced Skills Teacher of Science
Pay Scale AST

The Clarendon Academy, situated 10 miles from the beautiful city of Bath, enters 2013 as a school transformed. In 2012 we achieved our best ever results at Key Stages 4 and 5 and we received an OFSTED grading of good with outstanding leadership. In addition, we have recently converted to Academy status in partnership with The Educational Fellowship. Now we aim to move above and beyond outstanding in all areas and we invite excellent teachers to join us in this challenge.

We are seeking an outstanding teacher to fill a key strategic role as an Advanced Skills Teacher in Science. The successful candidate will deliver consistently excellent Science lessons and provide high quality CPD and coaching for colleagues within the Science Faculty and across the school. Ultimately, this post has been created with the original spirit of the AST role in mind to reward and challenge an excellent teacher who wishes to focus on teaching and learning rather than management, whilst providing a strong grounding for further promotion in the future. There are opportunities to teach across the 11-18 age range and we invite applications from teachers with any Science specialism.

If you believe passionately about the power of education, have moral purpose and vision and wish to make a generation lasting difference for children and young people, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

The Clarendon Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be subject to a full Criminal Records Bureau check before appointment is confirmed.

The Clarendon Academy

Aspire to Excellence

Clarendon is based in the Wiltshire County Town of  Trowbridge, about twenty minutes' drive to the east of Bath and 45 minutes' drive to the west  of Salisbury. The school is within commutable distance of Bristol and Trowbridge is easily reachable by rail.

A school has existed on the site since the 1940s. The current buildings range from a distinctive 18th century reception building to a state of the art lecture theatre and study area for 6th formers, opened in 2012. The school grounds provide an attractive environment for learning.

The school is proud to have become The Clarendon Academy. We are privileged to be sponsored by The Education Fellowship.

The Education Fellowship (TEF) was founded by Sir Ewan Harper CBE and Johnson Kane to deliver an excellent education to children of all backgrounds. This vastly experienced team is driven by a belief that every child deserves access to a top quality education and the life chances which that can embrace. The nature of our sponsorship is one of collaboration and building a new school experience together.

We base our approach to education on the timeless values each family wants for their children; integrity, courage, concern for others, the character to build lasting friendships, hard work, and the grace to forgive each other and rebuild relationships when things go wrong. These enable young people to face life confident that they will make a difference wherever they go.

Our commitment is to the highest standards for every child, providing excellent teaching and learning to ensure that all students reach their full potential.

Clarendon is a thriving and innovative establishment where students are happy and safe, respected and respectful, superbly behaved and always encouraged to aim high. Good schools are supportive schools and we pride ourselves on knowing our students as individuals so that they can be successful and enjoy school from joining us in Year 7 to graduating from our 6th Form in Year 13. Excellent education is about superb academic standards and ensuring that students develop as skilful, confident and respectful young people.
We are an extremely ambitious school aiming for nothing less than excellence in all that we do.
